This book gives a detailed view on analysis of the relationship between the Dutch at Ternate and the Maguindanao Sultanate. This book assumes special significance in an area that is much closer to contemporary concerns: the political, or, more precisely, big-power versus small-power politics, as dramatized in the pragmatic, yet astute fending off by the Maguindanao sultanate of incursions into its sovereignty and territorial integrity by the Dutch and other colonizers during the 17th century.
